When you invest in a Stewart LED sign for your school, church, town, nonprofit organization or business, you receive the SignCommand software. This cloud-based program allows you to enter text and graphics to appear on your sign, and you can access SignCommand from any internet-connected device - including computers, tablets, and even your phone. Wondering about the best ways to use graphics on your sign? Take a look at these ideas.
1. Make Announcements
SignCommand comes with a library of graphics, and many of the graphics help you announce popular special events. For instance, you can use graphics to announce upcoming Bible study sessions or Easter services at your church, bake sales at your school or all kinds of other events at your organization.Your announcements don't necessarily have to be about special events. Instead, your church can announce inspirational messages, your school can announce that it's received funding from a grant, or your organization can leverage graphics while making all kinds of other announcements.
2. Preface Other Slides
When announcing special events, you may want to use more than one slide. You can use graphics from the library to announce your event and put more details about your event into the next slide. When you set up these slides to play one after the other in your playlist, you get the benefits of an eye-catching graphic coupled with text that relays critical information about your event.
Ideally, you should set up the timing so that people can see both slides as they drive by your sign. Assume here that the speed limit for the road next to your sign is 30 mph. Driving at this speed, people cover about 88 feet in two seconds. If your sign is visible from 100 feet away, you may want to set up the slides so that each one appears for a second. Then within a two-second period, you can show passersby both slides - the graphics announcing your event and the text providing more details.
3. Promote Your Social Media Pages
Ideally all your marketing efforts should tie together, and one way to do that is to use your sign to drive people to your website or social media pages. There are graphics in the SignCommand library that feature social media labels. You can add one of these graphics on your sign with information about how to find your organization on that platform. As people drive or walk by your sign, they get all the information they need to find you online and learn more about your business or organization.
4. Brand Your Organization
Regardless of how you decide to use graphics on your sign, you should think about how the graphics can help brand your business or organization. Your brand identity should be at the heart of everything you do, and that includes the graphics you display on your sign. The right graphics can show people a bit about your organization's personality. Are you serious? Funny? Whimsical? Modern? Traditional? Regardless of your answers, keep those core concepts in mind as you choose your graphics.
5. Post Your Own Graphics
When choosing graphics to display on your sign, you don't have to just rely on the graphics library from SignCommand. Instead, you can upload your own graphics to your sign. SignCommand works with BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG, and TIFF still image formats. And if you want to go beyond still graphics, you can even upload AVI, MOV, MP4, MPG, or WMV video clips.
When putting in your own graphics or videos, you need to pay attention to the pixels in your original image compared to the pixels on your sign. If you resize an image too much, it may end up looking blurry. To contend with this issue, you may want to crop the image so that you capture the exact number of pixels on your sign.
Keep in mind that sometimes the display on your computer may look blurry. To assess how the image is going to look, do a preview within the software. f you're still not sure how everything looks, send the slide to your sign, review, and then adjust as needed.
